Developing the following skills:

PEER OBSERVATION

The objective of this skill is to enable teachers to implement classroom observation processes among teachers, using appropriate tools and techniques to facilitate peer learning and improve professional practice.

TIME MANAGEMENT

With this skill the teacher will be able to efficiently manage their time to be more productive and to obtain better results.

EFFECTIVE ASSESSMENT MEETINGS

This skill will enable teachers to coordinate and/or participate in an assessment session of a teaching team, as a space for teachers to share, to analyse the teaching-learning process, the evolution and results obtained by students to help improve the learning.

Introduction:

Whilst initial training should offer us tools that enable us to know and cover the complex territory in which teachers must move, permanent training, based on reflective practice, should enable improvement of the skills we discover and develop training mechanisms such as peer observation, time management and holding effective teaching meetings that provide knowledge and the global vision that is so difficult to obtain individually.

As a result, exercising a profession as complex as teaching demands not just the improvement of individual professional teaching skills, but also the alignment of professional skills to create collective synergies that allow progress in the formation of professional learning communities, which are the basis of organisations that learn and that act as a breeding ground for professional teaching development adapted to each context that facilitates the required educational leadership.

Educational Leadership is, therefore, an approach that looks to concentrate efforts on management and administration tasks with an educational focus, in other words, those that deal with analysis of the teaching and learning processes to improve the quality of education.

Competency objectives:

The Educational Leadership Challenge enables:

  • The implementation of classroom observation processes among teachers, using appropriate tools and techniques to facilitate peer learning and improve professional practice.
  • Effective time management to be more production and attain better results
  • Coordinate and/or participate in an assessment session of a teaching team, as a space for teachers to share, to analyse the education process, the evolution and results obtained by students to help improve the learning.

Methodology:

Through a personalised self-analysis, we will analyse and propose the course that best suits you, to first work on the skills you need most to develop your teaching competencies following your chosen Challenge.

We will propose:

  • Practical case studies and different scenarios of educational practice
  • Theory relating to the subject matter
  • Proposal for application in your classroom or work environment
  • Simulation
  • Self-assessment
  • Indications, suggestions and examples to implement real practice, gather evidence and share it with other colleagues.

Peer-to-peer tutoring:

If you wish, at the end of each Learning Challenge you can obtain a professional teaching certificate for the competency you have completed through a specific tutor, and recognition from Finland University (the most important consortium of public universities in Finland).
